Liquor

Americas
  • Liquor seems a popular category, although wasn’t given as much space in the store as other categories such as Beauty or Jewellery & Watches.
  • However, this could be due to the fact that all liquor purchases re confiscated and returned at the end of the cruise.
  • Lots of promotional activity, but quite muddled, with almost every product on offer in some way.
  • According to store staff, the most popular brands on board are Hennessy Pure White and Sheridan’s as both these products are extremely hard to come by in the States.
APAC
  • Although Costa neoRomantica had just one bay dedicated to alcohol covering all sub-categories, 45 different SKUs were on offer, not much less than on board the Carnival ships (60-70), with a similar range of brands.
  • Staff suggested that the type of passenger is more health conscious thus more likely to shop beauty or fashion.
  • As with the Americas, any liquor bought on board is confiscated until the end of the cruise.
  • No promotions on liquor.
  • QotS had a much smaller, targeted range, consisting mainly of Whisky.
  • Beer or spirits purchased prior to the voyage are confiscated and returned on the last day, however wine or champagne was permitted to be brought on board up to a limit of 2 litres with a $15 corkage fee.
